Sometimes we need to not be so comfortable and safe. Sometimes we need to push our own boundaries and limits and put ourselves out there. I know, I know, it’s a lot harder to do then it sounds. Now don’t get me wrong I myself like to live my life comfortably, rarely straying too far from my safe comfortable life but I have come to realise that sometimes you just need to. Sometimes you need to leave the comfort to achieve greater things.
Take for instance this blog, it took a lot for me to create this and share it with all of you. I wanted to achieve something great so I did it. I thought about it for years but never followed through with those thoughts, but I put myself out there and look what I have achieved. I am a little biased but I think it’s pretty great. I decided that I was going to put myself out there a little more every week after starting this blog, just to keep me creating a greater life and greater experiences for myself. Now of course putting yourself out there doesn’t need to be a huge gesture like selling all of your stuff and moving overseas to become a n international pop sensation, unless that is your goal, then by all means go ahead and do it, then let me know how you went… it could be something as simple as joining a sporting team that you’ve always wanted to but were too afraid to give it a try, or signing up for a contemporary dance class. It may be that you try something new at a restaurant you always go to. Start small; make baby steps until you grow your confidence.
I think that for many people it is the fear of the unknown that is the problem, or the fear that someone will judge you. But honestly people will judge you if you do and they will judge you if you don’t… Last week I agreed to go and play in a touch tournament with one of the members of the gym that I am completing my placement at. I knew no one but him but I thought you know what, why not give it a go? Come Saturday the day of the tournament, I was very anxious, didn’t want to go… kept thinking of reasons not to go… came time to go and was running late… procrastinating, but in the end I went. And I had a great time, I got to meet people that I probably wouldn’t have had the opportunity to do if I hadn’t gone and really enjoyed the experience.
I found a quote “and then I realised adventure was the best way to learn” – Author Unknown…. really I think this is my new Mantra. Who doesn’t love adventure?
I now challenge you all to step out of your comfort zone and try something new this week.
Leave a comment below and let me know what you did. Can’t wait to hear them.
Have a magical day – Ash x
